Miss Stella P. "Honey" Vigil, 55, of Rocky Ford passed away on Wednesday, August 29th, 2012 while in the company of family members. She got her nickname from her Great-Niece Emily Geist. Stella was born in Rocky Ford, CO on July 7, 1957, the daughter of the late Mary (Olmedo) Vigil. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1976. She worked as a Librarian at Rocky Ford School District Rocky Ford, CO, for 34 years. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church Rocky Ford, CO. Stella loved reading books, her job, her cats and working with children. Stella is survived by; Brother Edward Vigil of Pueblo, CO; Sister Rose wife of Jerry Turley of Oklahoma; Brother Carl husband of Lorie Magdaleno of Ft. Collins, CO; Sister Helen Trujillo of Rocky Ford, CO; Nephew Steve husband of Annette Vigil of Rocky Ford, CO; Nephew Michael John husband of Rhonda Vigil of Denver, CO; Niece Julie R. wife of Rich Geist of Rocky Ford, CO; Niece Andrea wife of Joe Chaisson of Ft. Collins, CO; Niece Stacey wife of Alex Elshof of Ft. Collins, CO. Great-Nieces Marlena Burciago, Brittney Vigil and "Little Honey" Emily Geist and many others. Great-Nephews Steven Vigil, Michael Paul Vigil and many others. She is also survived by and others in Denver and Oklahoma. Stella was preceded in death by her mother: Mary Vigil; Great-Nephew: Garren Geist and numerous Aunts & Uncles. A Rosary service will be recited at 10:00 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:30 AM all at St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, on Wednesday, September 5th, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
