Telesfor "Talley" Valdez

February 22, 1951 - January 24, 2012

Mr. Telesfor (Talley) Valdez, 60, of Rocky Ford died on Tuesday, January 24th, 2012 suddenly at his residence. Talley was born in Rocky Ford, CO on February 22, 1951, the son of the late Mariano Jose and Ortencia (Reyes) Valdez. He graduated from Manzanola High School. He was the husband of Frances Valdez. They were married on August 29, 1970 in Ordway, CO. She survives. They were married for 41 years. He served in the U.S. Army as a PV 1. He retired as a Foreman at American Fertilizer Plant in Manzanola, CO. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. He was an avid Oakland Raiders fan and enjoyed working out at the Pioneer Fitness Center. He also enjoyed going for walks with the grandkids and attending all the sporting activities. Talley enjoyed fishing and helping anybody in need. He is survived by his wife: Frances of the home; Son Mariano Valdez (Monica Juvera) of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Shelly Valdez of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Juanita (Michael) Huff of Wildomar, CA; Sister Gloria (Raymond) Ornelas of Manzanola, CO; Sister Amada Aparicio of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Flora Valdez (David Madrid) of Rocky Ford, CO. He is also survived by Grandchildren: Mariano Valdez, Jr., Isaac Valdez, Danielle Valdez, Christopher Maes, Maquela Huff, Matthew Huff, Quianna Ruiz, Teigan Pantoya He was preceded in death by sister: Teresa Valdez; great-granddaughter: Jayleigh Gauna-Valdez; Mother-in-law: Connie Cuburrbiaz. A Rosary Service will be recited at 10:00 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 31st, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Manzanola Cemetery Manzanola, CO. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
