Theodore "Ted" Torres, Sr.

May 29, 1944 - October 4, 2016

Theodore (Ted) Torres, Sr., 72, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away on Tuesday, October 4th, while in the company of family at the Crowley County Nursing Center in Ordway, CO. Theodore was born in Rocky Ford, CO on May 29, 1944, a son of the late Julia (Gutierrez) and Nepomuceno Torres. He was the husband of Cora Paula (Ornelas) Torres, they were married on Dec. 9, 1964 in Rocky Ford and celebrated 52 years of marriage. Ted & Cora enjoyed their daily drives in the country where he would always find beautiful & interesting things to take pictures of. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. Ted attended Rocky Ford schools and graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1962. He worked as a Storeroom Manager at Southern Colorado Power Co. in Rocky Ford, CO. Ted's younger years were spent playing baseball and fast pitch softball. He was an avid sports fan, but especially loved watching his Broncos, Rockies and Nuggets. He enjoyed visiting with people and had a love of learning about anything he could. During his last weeks, Ted was able to visit with many lifelong friends, which meant a lot to him. He is survived by his wife Cora of the home; Daughter Suzette, wife of Eddie Keys, of Pueblo, CO; 4 grandchildren: David Chavez, Kimberly Chavez, Tiffany Torres and Theo Torres, III; Brother Tom Torres; Sister Dolores Fernandez; 9 sister-in-laws and 3 brother-in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son: Theodore "Theo" Torres, Jr. on July 1, 2008; brother: Armando Torres; brother-in-laws: Nick & Ramon Ornelas A Rosary Service will be recited at 10:00 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:30 AM on Saturday, October 8th both at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
