Mr. Timoteo (Tim) Gonzales, 87, of Rocky Ford passed away on Tuesday, February 26th, 2013 peacefully at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta, CO. Timoteo was born in Las Cuevas, NM on January 5, 1926, the son of the late Apolonio T. and Margarita (Salazar) Gonzales. He was the widower of Helen (Baca) Gonzales. They were married on Nov. 12, 1956 in Rocky Ford. She preceded him in death on Jan. 8, 1980. Tim served in the U.S. Army as a SSG in WW II he was a 2 time Bronze Star and a Purple Heart recipient. He worked as a Ammunition Specialist at Pueblo Army Depot Pueblo, CO for 35 years. He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 8, served on past District Executive Committee and was local post Commander. He was also a life member of the VFW. He is survived by; Daughter Priscilla Cardenas of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Leonard husband of RoseAnn Gonzales of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Linda wife of Rick Benson of Pleasanton, CA; Brother Anthony husband of Becky Gonzales of Pleasanton, CA. He is also survived by 7 grandchildren: Angela Cortes, Albert (Angela) Cardenas, Jr., Juanita (Pie) Valdez, Vicente Gonzales, Leonard F. Gonzales, Maria (Michael) Espinoza, Riann Gonzales. 17 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife: Helen B. Gonzales; 2 brothers: Arthur Gonzales and Albert Gonzales; 3 sisters: Pita Sandoval, Cora Tafoya, Julia Amparan A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM with a Mass of Christian Burial following all at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Monday, March 4th, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-3 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
