Obituary

Tony Pete Encinias, 71, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Sunday, January 6th, while in the company of family, at his residence.

Tony was born in Rocky Ford, CO on September 29, 1947, a son of the late Maria (Chavez) and Antonio Encinias.

He graduated from Rocky Ford High School.

He was the husband of Dorothy Gloria (Madrid) Encinias, they were married on Aug. 22, 1969 in La Junta, CO.

Tony was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO.

He worked in Shipping/Receiving at Arkansas Valley Lumber & Supply in Rocky Ford. He had also worked for the Rocky Ford High School as a custodian.

Tony enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and especially his grandkids.  He loved playing pool, horseshoes, listening to music, dancing, playing cards, yard work, camping and fishing(with his special friend Manuel). In his younger years he enjoyed playing baseball and coaching. In one way or another he touched many lives.

He is survived by:

Wife Dorothy of the home;

Daughter Jody (Victor Rivera) Encinias, of La Junta, CO;

Son Anthony "Sluggo" (Tammy) Encinias, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Daughter Ronette (Nelo Mendoza) Encinias, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Son Jerry (Misty Sanchez) Encinias, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Son Steven (Karen) Encinias, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Daughter Qiana (Victor Tellez) Torrez of Denver, CO;

Brother George (Margaret) Encinias, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Sister Mary Licano, of Rocky Ford, CO;

Sister Sandra (Gilbert Perez) Perez, of Liberal, KS;

Sister Annie Aragon, of Pueblo, CO;

Sister Maria Reyes, of Texas;

He is also survived by 11 Grandchildren: Shauntaye, Victor, Jr., AJ, Raelynne, Marcus, Santino, Amber, Elena, Ariana, Santiago.

Tony was preceded in death by his parents; daughter: Rhonda Encinias; brothers: Jake and Emilio Encinias; sisters: Polly Ortiz, Frances Muniz and Kika Guzman.

A Rosary Service will be recited at 9:30 AM with a Memorial Mass to follow at 10:00 AM both on Thursday, January 10th at St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO. Inurnment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
