Velma Arlene Brommer, 87, of Rock Rapids, IA, formerly of Ordway, died Thursday April 15, 2021. She was born April 4, 1934 to Herman and Edna (Proaps) Riemenschneider

Velma married John Estes on June 24, 1952. To this union four children were born, Sandra, Kathryn, Joan, and John. John died in February of 1975.

On December 14, 1977 Velma married Marvin Brommer, the couple lived on the farm until retiring and moving to the acreage in Luverne and then a nursing home in Rock Rapids in January of 2018.

She was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, MN until moving to Luverne, MN where she was a member of the First Baptist Church. Velma really enjoyed sewing, crocheting, and cooking. She also enjoyed flowers, visiting people, and doing volunteer work.

Velma is survived by three children Sandra (Richard) Brill of Pueblo, CO, Joan (Bruce) Foote of Ellsworth, MN, and John (Marcia) Estes of Rock Rapids, IA. Two Stepchildren Douglas Brommer, Loveland, CO and Colleen Brommer Harlem, MT. Fourteen grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. A brother Phillip Riemenschneider of Ordway, CO and a sister Phyllis (Chris) Evans of California, MD. A sister in law Bernice Riemenschneider of Ordway, CO.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two husbands, a daughter Kathy Dutcher, 5 brothers, 2 sisters, 3 sister in laws, and a stepdaughter in law.

Graveside Services will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 23rd at Valley View Cemetery in Ordway, CO. Interment will be in the Valley View Cemetery in Ordway.
