Veronica Coley

November 26, 1961 - May 3, 2014

Veronica Emma (Veroni) Coley, 52, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Saturday, May 3rd, peacefully, at her residence. .

Veronica was born November 26, 1961 in Rocky Ford to Max Sr and Emma Cordova.Â

She was a cheerleader at Rocky Ford High School, and graduated in 1980.  She was a cosmetologist, and loved to help people feel better about themselves.

Veronica was a lifelong Catholic, Searcher and Cursillista, and her strong faith was an inspiration.  Her hobby was studying the saints.   On July 7, 2007 she married Patrick Coley, who survives.Â

Also surviving are her children Gabriel (Tham) Gallegos and Brittani Gallegos of Colorado Springs, and Derrick Gallegos of Florida, as well as her adored grandchildren, Nevaeh and Josiah. Also surviving are her mother, Emma Cordova, sisters Terri (Theresa) Flores and Marlene wife of Naz Flores, all of Rocky Ford; brothers Marvin husband of Sherry Cordova of Pueblo West and Max, Jr, husband of Louann Cordova of Swink, and her mother-in-law Patricia Coley. She was preceded in death by her father, Max Cordova Sr, grandparents Augustin Cordova, Fermin and Nieves Garcia, and grandparents/godparents Ida and Antonio Segura.

Veronica was so proud of her son Gabriel for being a stay-at-home dad, and was looking forward to her newest grandchild.  She was her son Derrick's inspiration in starting his landscaping business, and her daughter Brittani's motivation for attending nursing school.   She shared a unique relationship with each of her nieces and nephews, and was beloved Nina to her godchildren Liliana, Sheila, Marvin Jr, and Gianna.

Veronica was genuine, a loyal friend who loved unconditionally.  She never knew a stranger and people were drawn to her because the Holy Spirit shined in her smile.  Although Veronica didn't have a degree, she had a gift for counselling people and gave great advice.  She suffered many physical ailments with courage, and met every challenge with her contagious sense of humor.  Veronica was greatly loved and will be greatly missed.  Pallbearers Max Cordova Jr, Marvin Cordova Sr, Naz Flores, Greg Flores, Keith Flores, Marvin Cordova Jr.

Memorial Mass will be celebrated at at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish, La Junta, CO, at 10:00 AM on Friday, May 9th,  with Fr. Matthew Wertin officiating. There will be no public viewing. A Rosary Service will be reicted at  9:30 AM  Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
