Mrs. Virginia C. Gonzales, 82, of Rocky Ford died on Tuesday, June 23rd, 2009 while in the company of family members at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta, CO. Virginia was born in Abilene, TX on September 10, 1926, the daughter of the late Nicholas Roger and Nestora (Sauceda) Castillo. She was the widow of Alberto Gonzales. They were married in August of 1946 in Raton, NM. He preceded her in death on October 12, 2006. She was a Homemaker and also spent most of her adult life working at the Turkey Plant and at the Frozen Foods. She was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO 81067. She is survived by: Daughter Ramona Florez of Rocky Ford, CO; Daughter Angie Lerma of Wichita Falls, TX; Daughter Dominga Portillo of Amarillo, TX; Daughter Jennie Saenz of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Alberto Gonzales, Jr. of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Ralph Gonzales of Amarillo, TX; Son Nick Gonzales of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Boni Castillo of Hale Center, TX; Brother Andy Castillo of Dumas, TX. She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 sisters: Dominga & Fannie Castillo; 2 brothers: Julian and Nick Castillo Jr. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at at St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Friday, June 26th, with Fr. Don Malin officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday 9 AM - 5 PM at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Vigil Service will be at 6:00 PM Thursday at St. Peters Catholic Church.
