July 2, 1920 - March 14, 2014

Vivian Irene Lamb, 93, long time resident of Rocky Ford passed away on March 14, 2014 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Center West.

Irene was born July 2, 1920 in Tahlequah, OK to John & Clemmie Merchant. They moved to Colorado in 1929 and made their home in Rocky Ford. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School and married Bernice Lamb on Sept. 23, 1940 in Raton, NM.

Irene was a homemaker and seamstress. She made wonderful wedding gowns, cheerleader's uniforms, etc. for many families in the area. She was still sewing on a limited basis up until the time she was hospitalized in Oct. 2013. Irene was always involved in community service and helped in the schools, cub scouts, and was a Girl Scout leader. In recent years she delivered meals for SAGE (Meals on Wheels) Service and has worked at the Community Thrift Shop for many years. She volunteered with the "Toys For Kids Project", Grand Theater and was very active in the Community Presbyterian Church.

Irene is survived by her daughter: Francie (John) Miller of Rocky Ford, CO; Son: Charles (Virginia) Lamb of Arkansas City, KS; Grandchildren: James (Gina) Miller of Colorado Springs, Jerald (Darlene) Miller of Raton, NM, Clinton (Charity) Lamb of Ft. Collins, CO, Matthew (Lesley) Lamb of Cheyenne, OK, Great-Grandchildren: Joshua Miller of Colorado Springs, CO, Jennifer (Matthew) Harmon of Garden City, KS, Kendra Miller of Pueblo, CO, Levi Miller of Boise, ID, Mina (Kyle) Pothoven of Canon City, CO; Great-Great Grandchildren: Mathias & Lovelle Harmon, Josiah Miller & Nevada Lamb, Nephew: Stanley Ray (Joni) Hale of Colorado Springs, CO & several Great Nieces and Nephews.

Irene was preceded in death by her parents; John & Clemmie Merchant; husband: Bernice Lamb; Sister and brother-in-law: Pauline and Stanley Hale; Great-Granddaughter: Shelby Miller.

Graveside Services will be at the Valley View Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO, at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 19th, with Rev. Steve Culver officiating. There will be no public viewing. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. Family request donations to Community Presbyterian Church 303 S. 9th Rocky Ford, CO 81067.
