William "Joe" Joseph Eagen
March 25, 1931 - May 2, 2017
William Joseph Eagen, 86, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Tuesday, May 2nd, while in the company of family, at his residence. "Joe" was born in Pueblo, CO on March 25, 1931, a son of the late Winfred (Martin) and William Aloysius Eagen. He graduated from Fowler High School in 1949. After graduating, he entered the United States Air Force and served during the Korean Conflict. He was the husband of Ophelia Allene (Reeves) Eagen, they were married on July 16, 1955 and celebrated over 62 years of marriage. "Billy Joe" worked for Mt. Bell, US West and retired from Quest in 1989. He was also very active in the community volunteering for the Rocky Ford & Fowler Fire Departments, attending the First Baptist Church in Fowler and Rocky Ford, before attending the River of Life Church in Ordway. He served these churches in many different areas from Sunday School, School Teacher. youth leader, camp counselor, Vacation Bible School, Deacon and Trustee. In his later years he served in the Bread of Life Food Ministry. He enjoyed many hours of watching sports, supporting his kids and later many of the valley kids. He loved his Broncos and looked forward to every season. Joe is survived by his wife Allene of the Rocky Ford home; son Richard Wayne Eagen of Ulysses, KS; daughter Tracy Ann Eagen of Ordway, CO; 2 grandchildren Brandon (Julie) Eagen of Amarillo, TX and Shana (Daniel) Santistevan of Rocky Ford, CO; 6 great-grandchildren Kiya, Kailyn, Kori Eagen, Kiarrah, Brilla, and Jackson Santistevan. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Stephen Joseph Eagen; 3 sisters Ann Munson, Georgina Conard and Ruth Fellhauer A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, May 6th at River of Life Fellowship in Ordway, CO with Jeb Brown officiating. Inurnment will follow at 11:30 AM on Saturday, May 6th at Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO. A Memorial Fund has been established with the First Baptist Church; 966 Maple, Rocky Ford, CO 81067.
