Wylma Jean King, 91, of Rocky Ford, CO, passed away Monday, February 24th, peacefully, at Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford, CO. Wylma was born in Rocky Ford, CO on April 27, 1922, a daughter of the late Pauline (Harrison) and Edmund Peterson. She graduated from Rocky Ford High School. Wylma was the widow of Joseph Melvin King. On April 21, 1942, they were married at Kansas. She was Co-Owner and Manager at Arkansas Valley Seed in Rocky Ford, CO. Wylma was Past President of B & P.W., Past President of ALTRUSA, Past President of CO Seedsmen, 1st Woman President of any state seedsmen assn., Charter Member of Toast Master, 1974 Colorado Beautiful Activist of the Year. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rocky Ford, CO. She is survived by: Nephew Leroy Lunday, of Coaling, CA; Nephew Bob, husband of Maggie Fariss, of North Carolina; Nephew Joe, husband of Jill Fariss, of California; Niece Sue Johnston, of Sidney, NE; Numerous Great-Nieces and Nephews. Wylma was preceded in death by her parents; husband: Melvin in 1979; 2 sisters: Ruth Farris & Barbara Courtright; 1 brother: Bob Peterson. Funeral Service will be at the First United Methodist Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:30 AM on Friday, February 28th, with Phil Tarman officiating. A Visitation will be on Thursday from 1-4 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO. Family request donations to First United Methodist Church 301 W.
